Every Time She Comes

Every time she comes I come closer still
Silhouettes that dance a waltz on windowsill
Yeah we play our part but She's a tourist in my heart
Reaching out a hand, nonchalent pulls us apart
I sat on the banks of Her river
Throwing stones at reflections of stars
Confusing a love of the Ocean
For the light of Suns dead and long past
Every time she comes I come closer still
Silhouettes that dance a waltz on windowsill

Tape loop desires you don’t understand
You’ve been wired backwards by a drunken hand
I was the crook, you were the crime
You’ve been found wanting by a wanted man
You’ve been wired backwards by a drunken hand
Anytime you find you need a conversation – I’m your man
It’s pornographic how you curl your tongue around a sweet turn of phrase
You’ve been caught red handed in a charge of The Light Brigade
You’re a martyr to your cause
And we don't need more now what we need is less
You should have learnt something by now
I drink till I'm drunk
I think till I'm sunk
A backdoor, a battleship, the last bee stung
In a forest of sticks I gather excuses
Burn them like cinders in the morning Sun
Casting a shadow over all we've done
Anytime you find you need a conversation – I’m your man
There's no sin that you could ever dream of that a Saint hasn't done
You’ve been caught red handed - a charge of The Light Brigade
You’re a martyr to your cause
You know that we don't need more now what we need is less
You should have learnt something by now
I’m solar powered and the Sun is high
Breaking in colours from the morning light
I’m solar powered and the sun is high...

Africa

Nothing worth a damn was ever come by easy
I'm raiding stores by gas light
Foreign shores and rolling hills
Sifting pans to find the ounce of gold I need to pay
To carry me from Africa
Far beyond these Azure woven skies
I had to trade my rum and crumpled cigarettes for new papers
I'm coming home
I was just a boy pretending to walk tall
A sheep in wolf's clothing
Cutting my teeth on your cloth
Tell you all my secrets- lie about my past
It's not yours, not mine
Just a place we're passing through
I had to trade my rum and crumpled cigarettes for new papers
I'm coming home
Creeping over Sunrise Mountain like a fire
Sometimes I seep into estates
Where neither man nor god is King
You could build Cathedrals
From my stone cold lies
I've been a sinner, a saviour, deserter
Now I'm coming home
I'm coming home
